For the seaport related to Calais, see Port of Calais.

Calais is a city at the northern coast of France, and is the French side of the famous English Channel crossing.

In-game History Edit

Calais was first featured in Euro Truck Simulator Gold Edition, and serves as the access point to United Kingdom from continental Europe. In that game, all cross-channel movements must be done via Calais.

While several new channel crossings are introduced in Euro Truck Simulator 2, Calais stands out by offering the most abundant choice of connections. There are two ways for truckers to cross the channel (the ferry and Channel Tunnel train), as well as two ways to go to Paris. In addition, another new minor road follows the coast towards Brussels. Thus, when the player picks up cross-channel jobs, the in-game GPS often routes the path via Calais.

Also in Euro Truck Simulator 2, Calais becomes a fully-functional city, with several facilities available, as described below.

City of Calais in ETS2 Edit

LKW, NBFC and Stokes have depots in Calais.

In addition, there's a bus station, a garage, a hotel, a recruitment agency, a service shop, and a small MAN truck dealer in Calais.

Connections Edit

In the original Euro Truck Simulator, Calais is connected to Paris via the E15 and E402 Euroroutes.

The connections to Calais in Euro Truck Simulator 2 are more complicated.

The Port of Calais is to the northwest of the city. A bypassing road allows cross-channel truckers to avoid entering Calais proper. This road intersects with the A16 Autoroute, which is the fastest road between Calais and Paris. However, the Calais access road does not end on the A16, and instead goes its own way to Paris as well.

The Channel Tunnel terminal is connected to the A16 to the southwest of the city. Both the port and the railway crossing end up near Dover in United Kingdom, with the train taking less time but the ferry allows a bit more rest time to truckers.

East of the A16 intersection, another minor road branches off towards Duisburg, crossing three national borders (France – BelgiumNetherlandsGermany). The A25 Autoroute continues from the A16 at that point, and runs towards Lille.
