"Germany covers an area of 357,021 square km. Tourists love German old towns, castles and beer festivals. Berlin is a capital city and one of the world's most popular places to visit. Germany has 650,000 km of roads, its autobahn network has a total length of 12,917 km."
— Official Euro Truck Simulator 2 Website

Germany (German: Deutschland) is a country in Central Europe, featured in Euro Truck Simulator, then German Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Austria, Germany and United Kingdom are the only European countries to have been exclusively featured in an SCS Software truck simulator game.

The country is bordered by Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, and France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands to the west.

Euro Truck Simulator already featured most of Germany's neighbors, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland (although truckers need to go through France or Netherlands to access Belgium). In Euro Truck Simulator 2, Luxembourg is also featured, but there's no direct connection between Germany and Luxembourg. Upon the release of the Scandinavia DLC, Denmark is also included, and ferry link is available between Germany and Sweden.

Because of its central location, the country received significant attention from both players and SCS itself. Germany was the first country to officially receive a map rework without being featured in a DLC[1].

History of Germany in the Truck Simulator series[]

Inclusion of Cities and Towns[]

Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich were included in the original Euro Truck Simulator.

15 more cities were included in German Truck Simulator, and another 3 (Kassel, Mannheim and Osnabrück) in Euro Truck Simulator 2, bringing the total to 21.

Travemünde was added in version 1.33 update. Its main feature is a port for connections across the Baltic Sea to Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC area, specifically Helsinki in Finland and Liepāja in Latvia.

Werlte was added in version 1.45 update as part of the Krone Trailer Pack DLC, making it the first city in Germany that requires a map DLC to access.

Winsen was added in version 1.48 update as part of the Feldbinder Trailer Pack DLC, making it the second city in Germany that requires a map DLC to access.

Rework[]

Map illustrating the rework program

On May 23, 2018, SCS announced their intention to rework old areas of the base game map, with Germany being the first.

The first phase was released in update 1.32.[2] Motorways ("Autobahn") in northern Germany were reworked, which is especially noticeable on the sceneries (e.g. Port of Hamburg) and proper interchanges. All existing German cities were reskinned. Except Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig, which got reworks of the cities itself, but with the usage of outdated company prefabs. (As mentioned above, Travemünde was officially released in update 1.33)

The second phase was released in update 1.35[3], and includes mainly the areas around Nürnberg (which is itself re-rendered), Erfurt and Kassel. Two new motorways were also added, specifically A38 (Kassel to Leipzig) and A71 (A38 to A4).

The third phase (and also the final phase of the Revisiting Germany) was released in update 1.40[4]. Dortmund was relocated to the "correct side" of A1 and A45, the area around the cities of Dortmund, Köln, Düsseldorf, and Duisburg was redesigned but a few new intersections and roads were added in the place as well, and Stuttgart was featured a new airport area. The southern part of A7 was also added.

In update 1.45 on July 28, 2022, the first reworked city of Hanover was released on current standards (map expansion quality).[5]

In blog postings on December 6, 2022;[6] January 10, 2023;[7] February 10, 2023;[8] March 7, 2023,[9] the full reworks of more German cities (Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt and Nürnberg) in the way of Hannover were announced.

In update 1.47 on April 13, 2023. another four reworked cities of Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, and Nürnberg were released on current standards (map expansion quality).[10]

In blog postings on April 22, 2023;[11] May 12, 2023,[12] the full reworks of more German cities (Rostock and Travemünde) in the way of Hannover, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, and Nürnberg were announced.

In blog posting on June 13, 2023,[13] the full reworks of the German city of Kiel, in the way of Hannover, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, Nürnberg, Rostock and Travemünde was announced.

In blog posting on June 20, 2023,[14] the full reworks of the German city of Hamburg, in the way of Hannover, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, Nürnberg, Rostock, Travemünde, and Kiel was announced.

In blog posting on January 30, [15] the full reworks of the German region of Rhine-Ruhr (German cities of Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, and Köln), in the way of Hannover, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, Nürnberg, Rostock, Travemünde, Kiel, and Hamburg was announced.
